There are people who help specifically with LGBTQ+ asylum

If you're an asylum seeker — you are entitled to a free lawyer. It's called Legal Aid. Don't pay scammers — it's free by law. No one can charge you for an asylum case if you're eligible for Legal Aid.

There are organisations that specifically help LGBTQ+ people with asylum. Here they are:

LGBTQ+ asylum

Rainbow Migration

The only UK organisation that focuses exclusively on LGBTQI+ migration and asylum. They help prepare your case, provide support letters for the Home Office, advise on your witness statement, and help with appeals. They run support groups for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers. Safe housing specifically for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and refugees — private flats, not shared hostels. Moving On programme — help with jobs, CV, mentoring. Integration into the LGBTQI+ community. Work across England.

If you're 16-25 and LGBTQ+ — they help with housing if you're homeless or in an unsafe environment. Emergency accommodation, housing support, mentoring. Work across the UK.

Free step-by-step toolkit covering the entire asylum process — from applying to appealing. Written in plain language. Explains what happens at each stage, your rights, what to do if refused. Available in several languages.

Refugee Council

The UK's largest refugee support organisation. Help you navigate the system, refer you to a lawyer, support with integration. Infoline available in multiple languages — they'll point you in the right direction.

Galop

If you've experienced violence, domestic abuse, hate crime, or so-called "conversion therapy" — Galop specialises in helping LGBTQ+ people. They can help you report to police and provide legal support.
LGBTQ+ housing

Stonewall Housing

Specialist housing support for LGBTQ+ people. Advice on housing rights, help with applications, support if you're being evicted or homeless. Work across England.
asylum support

Migrant Help

Official Home Office partner for asylum seeker support. Help with housing applications (Section 95), financial support (ASPEN card), moving. Speak several languages. If you have nowhere to live — call them first.
torture and trafficking

Helen Bamber Foundation

If you've survived torture, trafficking, or other serious violence — they provide therapy, legal support, and medical evidence for your asylum case. Self-referral via website. Everything is free and confidential.

Freedom from Torture

Therapy and rehabilitation for torture survivors. They provide medico-legal reports that strongly support asylum cases. Centres in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, and Newcastle.

Legal Aid — how to find a lawyer

Legal Aid is the government's free legal help programme. If you're an asylum seeker — you're eligible. Don't pay "immigration consultants" on social media. A real lawyer through Legal Aid is free. Use the GOV.UK search or ask Rainbow Migration to help you find one.
