If you are reading this at 2am, the question is already asked. You are not crazy, not ill, not mistaken. Millions of men have been through this exact night.
Short answer
There is no test. You are not sitting an exam. There are feelings. There are thoughts. There is the reality of your body. You will understand in your own time. You do not have to decide today.
Questions that help
Body
When you think about sex — with whom? Not "should imagine", but genuinely want. Fantasies are not a choice — they show who you are.
Being in love
Was there a boy you once felt more than friendship for? Not "brotherly love" — the real tightness in the chest. Think back to school, university, first job.
Reactions
How do women touch (or not touch) you? Is sex with a woman tolerable, neutral, mechanical? Or something you genuinely want?
Male friendship
Is your admiration for certain friends different from ordinary male friendship? It is not always homosexuality, but it is often the first sign.
Myths not to believe
"It is a phase, it will pass"
Fantasies and crushes that keep coming back over years — that is not a phase. If you are 25 and every time you close your eyes it is a man, that is already the answer.
"I was in bad company"
Orientation is not a virus. You did not catch it and nobody taught you. You were born this way or became this way — and it is yours.
"I was abused as a child, that is why"
The link between trauma and orientation is not scientifically established. There are gay men with no trauma. There are straight people with trauma. Trauma is its own matter — work with a therapist. Orientation is separate.
"I am too masculine to be gay"
A stereotype from films. Gay men are ordinary men. Slim, heavy, athletic, fragile, brutal, gentle. There is no single "type".
What to do now
What to do now
□Do not rush into decisions or disclosures. Years ahead.

□Read "you are not alone" — an important emotional anchor.
□If religion is part of your life — the page on Islam and being gay will help.
